Malta, served by British Airways franchise carrier GB Airways, has become the first airport to offer e-ticketing since British Airways cut-over to the Amadeus reservation system last February.
British Airways was one of the first airlines to introduce e-ticket, taking advantage of an upgrade in airport systems by Malta International Airport.
British Airways general manager in Malta James Stagno Navarra said: "I am extremely happy to be able to offer this facility to passengers, which gives them a wider number of ticketing and check-in options.
"E-ticketing has already proved a great success in the short period since introduction, with four passengers using the facility on the first day."
The first passenger to use e-ticket in Malta was Mrs Anne Farrugia, who was presented with a bottle of champagne on departure.
This summer British Airways offers eight flights a week to Malta, including a double daily service on Tuesdays.
