Love was literally in the air on Christmas eve as Jonathan Haber proposed to his partner midway through a flight between Malta and Munich.

Mr Haber, 29, proposed to his girlfriend Rodienne Fenech, 31, at 38,000 feet after a 12-year relationship.

“It was an incredible experience… and the passengers joined in the special moment,” Mr Haber told timesofmalta.com.

Mr Haber emerged from behind the club class curtain and on the aircraft tannoy asked his girlfriend for her hand in marriage. It took her a split second to say ‘yes’ to the applause of the other passengers.

“I was so excited that I don’t have any idea on which finger I put on the engagement ring. And to top it all Rodienne is easily embarrassed.”

Ms Fenech had been wearing headphones and the cabin crew fooled her into believing she could not wear them since she was sitting at an emergency exit.

“He’s never done anything of the sort. Everyone was staring at us with a smile. I was on a cloud… literally.”
