A 35-year-old Filipino live-in housekeeper was this afternoon given a two-year-suspended for three years after she admitted stealing €550 from her employer.

The court heard that Joann Albopera had already repaid €50 and the court ordered her to pay the remaining €500 within six months.

In tears, Ms Albopera promised the court she would refund the money.

She was represented by legal aid Joseph Ellis. Inspector Matthew Spagnol prosecuted.
