Nick Alexakos, president of the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), met the Parliamentary Secretary for Sports, Clyde Puli, and launched the first IPSC courses for members of the Association of Maltese Arms Collectors and Shooters (AMACS).
Mr Alexakos and his wife, Susan, were hosted by IPSC regional director and AMACS president Stephen Petroni, who also chairs the International Legislative Committee (ILC) of the IPSC.
IPSC shooting is one of the most popular forms of sports shooting because it combines accuracy, speed and power.
Malta is one of the 86 IPSC regions where the sport is practised.
During his stay, Mr Alexakos ran two courses that were attended by 14 AMACS members.
Following the two-day IPSC handgun safety orientation course, held at the AFM Safi range, participants attended the IPSC international level 1 range officer seminar held at the AMACS premises.
They were assessed by means of seven exams which they all passed.
Members of an IPSC-recognised club who are in possession of a target shooter licence A can register as an IPSC shooter if they successfully complete courses organised by the IPSC Malta Region's National Range Officer Institute under the guidance of the newly-appointed range officers.
