The Malta Labour Party has condemned the vandalism committed on the residence of Alternattiva Demokratika leader Harry Vassallo in Sliema and the burning of Nationalist Party billboards in Rabat and San Ġwann.

The Nationalist Party also condemned the burning of its billboards pointing out that this was the third time these were burned in the space of a few days.

Appealing for tolerance and freedom of opinion, the MLP augured that the culprits would be brought to justice.

AD said the façade of Dr Vassallo's house in Sliema was vandalised on Sunday evening. It said the glass of a large window on the ground floor of the house was shattered "after the Nationalist Party's mass meeting in Sliema that same evening".

Dr Vassallo, his wife and two children were not in the house at the time of the incident.

AD's deputy chairman Stephen Cachia condemned the act and expressed solidarity with Dr Vassallo and his family. He also appealed for responsible restraint in political speeches to avoid incidents by hot heads.
