A new Nationalist government will continue investing the maximum possible in education because it believes in the potential of Maltese citizens, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said yesterday.
Speaking in Nadur at a meeting with youths, Dr Gonzi said the PN has very ambitious targets in its electoral manifesto because, he said, it is extremely important to aim high.
At the moment, schools have a computer for every 11 students, which is the European average. The PN in office is promising one computer for every four students, placing the country at the forefront in this regard.
Referring to the environment, Dr Gonzi said the most ambitious proposal of the 353 the PN is putting forward, is that of turning Gozo into an ecological island.
He once again condemned the Labour Party's "arrogance and intolerance" toward people who oppose its plans as happened during the debate at the university earlier this week.
Under a Labour administration in the 1980s, students were beaten up for expressing their opinion, he added.
The MLP had a "do-it-yourself" electoral manifesto, full of promises that show a clear lack of vision.
He urged youths to believe in their future and vote for the party that has a clear vision for Malta and Gozo.
