Labour MP Leo Brincat observed today that it was the Mepa audit officer ho had asked the Authority for documents in order that he may investigate the granting of permits for filming at Dwejra, rather than the other way around.

In a statement, Mr Brincat said the government had given the impression that the Authority had asked its audit officer to investigate the granting of the permit, which involved the dumping of sand on the scenic spot.

Now the prime minister had admitted that it was actually the audit officer who asked the Authority to hand over the documents to him.

Mr Brincat said one would have expected more transparency from the government.

He said the people still expected to be kept informed of what really happened in this case as well as exchanges with the EU about it
