The ladies' MHA Cup competition came to a close last Saturday at the University Sports Complex with the final honours going to La Salle Vitality.

La Salle Vitality 9
Kavallieri Megabyte 8

John Falzon's La Salle were made to sweat out all their energy in this game despite knowing that a draw would have been enough for them to lift the cup.

As for Kavallieri, they knew that nothing less than a win would have suited their bid to stay in the hunt for the honours.

In fact, Kavallieri were off to a flying start and by half-time were 6-3 up.

One expected La Salle to go all out and reduce the arrears after the break. But, it was Kavallieri who scored the first goal of the second period. La Salle's reaction was immediate as two quick goals put them back into the game - 7-5.

Johanna Rizzo re-established Kavallieri's three-goal cushion but it was to be their last goal as from then on it seemed that there was only one team on court.

Full equilibrium was restored as Louise Micallef made it 8-8 and in the dying moments of the game it was Rebecca D'Agostino who sealed the issue in favour of La Salle to the great joy of their clan... by that time they were indeed worthy winners of the MHA Cup.

Best player: Rebecca D'Agostino (La Salle).

Salesians HC 8
Aloysians V. Croissant 13

Aloysians scored a comfortable, yet useless, victory over Salesians, who ended up at the bottom of the table without points.

Aloysians were the better side although full credit should go to Stephan Vancell's Salesians for not throwing in the towel from the early stages of the game.

Best player: Roslyn Debattista (Aloysians).
