The inaugural Gatorade competition for juniors was played recently at the Royal Malta Golf Club, Marsa.

The boys and girls from the Birdie and Par groups within the Junior Academy played in a single Stableford competition from the red tees over Holes 1 to 9. The Bogey group took part in a pitch and putt competition on the Driving Range.

Despite the strong winds on the day of the competition, some remarkable results were returned, a boost for the academy. Bernard Cassar Torregiani, who scored a creditable 29 over the nine holes, Matthew Cassar Torregiani, 23, Amber Abele, 22, Nico Fauser, 21, and Emma Debono, 19, all earned handicap cuts while Murtuz Gadzhiev obtained a Junior Academy handicap of 51.

The presentation ceremony was held at the clubhouse and it was presided by Susan Weenink, senior manager Marketing Operations at Farsons.

Weenink announced that Farsons will be supporting the Junior Academy through their sponsorship for another two years.
