I write rather belatedly about an event which took place during the Christmas festivities. I am referring to the Prelude to Christmas Concert performed by the Amadeus Chamber Choir and Orchestra at St John’s Co-Cathedral and held in conjunction with the Richmond Foundation.

This concert proved, if any proof were needed, how talented and dedicated our performers are in this small island of ours. Not only was the concert one of the best, if not the best, I have ever attended but it was so enjoyable that everyone wished it would never end. However, although all good things must come to an end, the large audience present felt privileged to have attended such an audacious and truly enjoyable performance.

The hard work, dedication and professionalism of the choristers together with their director, Brian Cefai, were evident throughout. Their vast repertoire of carols and Christmas songs interpreted in various languages was a joy to hear.

Also, the fact that the proceeds collected from the concert went to the Richmond Foundation to help it in its charitable work is an added feather in the choir’s cap.

This short letter will in no way do justice to the choir’s outstanding abilities and professionalism but, at least, it may help to make people more aware that we have in our midst a choir that is capable of rubbing shoulders with any foreign one.

Well done to all the members and I for one very much look forward to their next event.
