Jos. A. Farrugia writes:

Another of my friends has passed away. I have known Joseph Scicluna since 1962 and worked with him in the Tarxien civic council from 1971 to 1994; I was the secretary and he was the president.

Joseph was a leader and a fighter. Who would remain president of the Tarxien civic council through all those years if he were not a leader and a fighter? Nearly everybody was against us when we pledged ourselves that Tarxien was to have a monument to its War Dead. Some people laughed at us when we wrote about the derelict Dar tal-Kejka or the destruction of the Norman Arch.

Our civic council worked very hard so that Tarxien would have a bank branch. His last letter to the press a few weeks ago was about the closure of the HSBC branch at Tarxien.

He was a great family man. I send my condolences to his family.

Goodbye Joseph. We will meet again.
