A 34-year-old Libyan was sent to prison for eight months after admitting to the theft of various items from a car parked at the Granaries in Floriana.

The case happened in the early hours of August 27, in Triq l-Imħażen, and the value of the stolen items did not exceed €240.

Abdul Hamid Saied also admitted that on the same occasion he also attempted to steal other objects from another car parked in the same street.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Joseph Mifsud, took into account the fact that the accused had pleaded guilty at an early stage and had returned the stolen items.

The magistrate also remarked that cars should be properly locked and no object objects of a certain value should be left inside.

Inspector Christian Frendo led the prosecution.
