A Swede was this morning sentenced to eight months in jail after pleading guilty to trafficking cocaine and cannabis in Pembroke on Tuesday.

Per Johansson, 24, was apprehended by police near the Institute for Tourism Studies when the officers were monitoring his movements.

In his possession, police found equipment related to drug trafficking including weighing scales and small plastic bags. More drugs were found during a search at his house. A total of 20 grams of drugs were found.

Mr Johansson pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him. Magistrate Doreen Clarke sentenced him to jail and fined him €500.

Police Inspector Nikolai Sant prosecuted.
