The Home Affairs Ministry has ordered an inquiry into contracts for surfacing works on two roads awarded by the former local council of Mosta . The contracts are understood to have involved some €1 million.

The inquiry was ordered by Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici. The inquiry board will be presided by Louis Cilia, with Martin Scicluna and Natalino Attard as its members.

They will investigate the circumstances whereby the order of works was made  to V&C Contractors last December to carry out resurfacing works at Triq is-Dawr and Triq l-Istringell.

The inquiry will also establish whether procedures and regulations were followed, and make the necessary recommendations.
