A one-hour strike at Mcast next Monday has been called off after a conciliation meeting, the Malta Union of Teachers said.

Themeeting was chaired by the Director of Industrial and Employment Relations, Noel Vella.

The union had been complaining that agreements reached with Mcast were not being observed.

The MUT said Mcast had agreed that:

Appraisals will not be held for lecturing staff awaiting progression and progression will be decided and communicated by the 15th December 2010.

Appraisals will be held after January 2011, upon a document which will be finalized together with the Union.

Part-time staff that had been forced to enter into self-employment will have their position regularized.

That PGCE-VET results will be out by the 1st January 2011.

Recognition of Representation of LSAs has been confirmed. Negotiations over LSA conditions and salaries will commence soon.
