The first National Junior League commenced recently at the Eden SuperBowl.

The competition, which runs in parallel with the current season of SkolaSport, is being organised by the Malta Tenpin Bowling Association with the cooperation of the SuperBowl management. Giancarlo Tolu, junior national coach, is the event's co-ordinator.

Eight teams are taking part. These hail from Mosta, Msida, Naxxar, Pembroke, San Giljan, San Gwann, Sliema and Swieqi.

The league operates on a trios format and will run for a total of 14 weeks.

Standings: San Gwann 18; Naxxar 16; Pembroke 14, Swieqi 14; San Giljan 12, Sliema 12; Mosta 6; Msida 4.

Top bowlers: (Week 1) Justin Caruana Scicluna, 563, San Giljan; Valentina Bezzina, 496, San Gwann.

(Week 2) Dean Micallef, 484, Sliema; Stephanie Said, 466, San Giljan.

(Week 3) Nathan Brimmer, 490, Naxxar; Tiziana Caranante, 479, Swieqi.
