Reading Terry Osborne's letter (July 17), I could not believe how self-centred this individual could be.

Does he think that these difficult last few days have been easy for us Maltese?

After all, we were the ones suffering the consequences of criminal actions and not Mr Osborne, sitting comfortably in his house in Basingstoke!

As for not being guaranteed safety, well, where does Mr Osborne actually live? In cloud cuckooland? Hasn't he heard of the violent knife culture which is prevailing in most English cities? Yes, Mr Osborne, even England has its share of violence and foreigners have actually been murdered too! So what do we tourists travelling to the UK do?

Shall we not visit the UK anymore? After all, the British police aren't guaranteeing our personal safety as tourists either, are they?

Mr Osborne states that he has always regarded Malta as his second home. Therefore, I find it surprising that a few days of unrest is enough for him to have hysterics!

The majority of the Maltese like and respect the tourists that visit our islands.

However, when I read letters like those of Mr Osborne, I feel there is only so much arrogance we can take.

Yes, Mr Osborne, please try to find another perfect place to visit. I very much doubt whether you will find any country which does not have its fair share of ups and downs but I wish you luck in trying, anyway!
