Eto'o: Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o is set to return to training with the rest of the Barcelona squad from the middle of January, the Primera Liga club have said. Eto'o tore the meniscus in his right knee on Sept. 27 in the 1-1 draw at Werder Bremen in the Champions League, and was scheduled to be sidelined for up to five months.

Balde: Celtic centre-back Bobo Balde broke his leg in the 2-2 draw with Dundee United on Tuesday, the Scottish Premier League leaders said. The Guinean defender will be out for a number of months.

Ujpest: Ujpest have appointed Istvan Urbanyi as their new manager. The 39 year-old replaces Belgian Valere Billen, who was sacked on Dec. 22. Ujpest lie fourth in the 16-team first division with 29 points from 17 matches.

Huddlestone: Tottenham's Tom Huddlestone signed a new contract with the Premiership club on Tuesday. Huddlestone's new deal will begin on January 1 and keeps him at White Hart Lane until 2011. The England U-21 player established himself as a regular in the side this season and recently scored his first goal for the club against Man. City.

Ganea: Ionel Ganea, the leading Romanian scorer this season, has broken his contract with Dinamo Bucharest to sign a record deal with rivals Rapid Bucharest. A Rapid Bucharest spokesman said yesterday the club's owner George Copos had agreed to pay Ganea a record €350,000 salary a year. Ganea, 33, has scored 12 goals in 19 matches for Dinamo in one of his most productive seasons.

Da Silva: Brazilian-born Eduar-do Da Silva has won the Croatian Player of the Year award for 2006. The 23-year-old Dinamo Zagreb striker earned a position in the national team after the World Cup in Germany in June and immediately proved himself. Ran-gers striker Dado Prso won the award in the previous three years.

Byshovets named Lokomotiv coach: Former Russia manager Anatoly Byshovets has been named coach of Lokomotiv Moscow. Byshovets, 60, replaces Oleg Dolmatov, becoming the third Lokomotiv coach in the last three months. Byshovets has been out of coaching since 1998 when he was sacked following Russia's disastrous start to their Euro 200 qualifying campaing when they lost their first three qualifiers.
