I have had the pleasure of arranging exhibitions in the Cittadella Centre for Culture and Art over the past three years and now in the Banca Giuratale, Victoria. Each of these excellent venues, together with the Gozo Ministry halls, are offered by the ministry’s culture section to artists from Gozo, Malta and abroad on a regular, almost continual, basis and represent a tremendous cultural resource for Gozo.

A number of fine artists have exhibited over the period. The arrangements are efficient and, in particular, have allowed the establishment of the annual fine art charity exhibition organised by Rotary Club Gozo as well as the collectives by the Community of Malta Artists in which newer artists, some never having exhibited before, have had the pleasure of showing their art. After this professional experience a number have then developed work for solo exhibitions.

It is excellent to have such venues, which are accessible for charity and that also provide opportunity for artists starting out on their careers. All too often such sites raise a charge that effectively restricts their use only to established artists.

By working in this way, these Gozo venues provide a complementary resource to that provided, for example, in St James Cavalier. The staff of the Gozo Culture Department have been most helpful and supportive, accordingly my thanks goes to them for an excellent job well done. Prosit!
