The House of Representatives meets again today following the Christmas recess.

Social Policy Minister John Dalli is expected to move the first reading to a new Bill amending the Civil Code. Members are then expected to start the discussion in second reading of the Probation (Amendment) Bill. Introduced last November, the Bill seeks to transpose the provisions of an EU Council Framework decision on the application of the principle of mutual recognition to judgments and probation decisions. It also introduces further amendments to the Probation Act.

Another new Bill on the agenda is that which implements measures announced in the Budget.
