Marsamxett Harbour and Msida Creek will be providing the racing background to an exciting series of catamaran racing organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club.

This is being held this weekend where a maximum of six races are scheduled with the first warning signal for Race One on both days set for 11 a.m.

The regatta - Hobie Cat Invitational - is open to the three class boats, namely, Hobie Cats, Laser 5000 and 49er, where all classes will race as one class head to head.

Catamarans, as multi-hulls in general, are the avant-garde of today's sailing technology where they can reach high speeds in low winds, providing wet, wild and very physical sailing which is a real spectacle to watch.

The start and finish of the races will be from in front of the new clubhouse of the Royal Malta Yacht Club in Ta' Xbiex which besides presenting an ideal organisation site also excels as a great spectator viewing location.
