The Malta police are facing the brunt of criticism following the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The corps is being accused of being incapable of controlling petty crime and daily law breaches, let alone organised gangs. Thousands marched in Valletta last Sunday demanding the resignation of Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar.

But are many pointing at the wrong target? Are the police actually equipped and compensated enough to maintain law and order in this day and age?
