The EU member states have been invited to implement within the next three years a 'Framework Agreement on Harassment and Violence at Work' signed by a number of European social partners including the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), Business Europe, the European Association of Craft Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (UEAPM) and the European Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation and of Enterprises of General Economic Interest (CEEP).

Member organisations will also have to report on implementation to the Social Dialogue Committee.

Conscious of these important developments in making the workplace safer and bully-free, the Malta Federation of Industry (FOI) and the Foundation for Human Resources Development (FHRD) are holding a half-day conference on December 11 at the Hilton Malta on "Harassment and violence at work".

Keynote speakers for this conference will be Sina Bugeja, executive director of the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality, Damian Spiteri, who has supervised and engaged in research on different aspects of the Maltese labour market, and Dr David Attard, chairman of the European Logotherapy and Existential Analysis Association and senior manager of corporate affairs at the Malta Maritime Authority.

Contact the FOI or the FHRD for further information.
