Former presidents and officials of Premier League club Hamrun Spartans will be holding a meeting today at the Valentine Hall, St Joseph High Road, Hamrun.

A statement, signed by club honorary president Victor Tedesco, said the purpose of the meeting, which starts at 7.15 p.m., is to discuss plans on how to build a competitive side to challenge for honours by season 2006-07 when the Spartans will be celebrating their 100th anniversary.

The statement makes reference to season 1982-83 when the club commemorated its 75th anniversary.

In that particular year, the same initiative was taken and the Spartans not only managed to win the league but went on to lift the FA Trophy for the first time in the club's history.

The statement added that during the meeting, only initiatives and efforts to secure a better future for the club can be put forward for discussion.
