The General Workers’ Union has welcomed new regulations giving teleworkers the same rights as ordinary workers.

It said in a statement that there should be a clear system to ensure that these workers did not see a deterioration in their conditions of work, so as to avoid situations that could lead to exploitation.

The GWU insisted that the flexibility brought about by teleworking should favour the workers more than employers.

Teleworkers work from home, normally using computer links.
