Artists have slashed the prices of their works to lure buyers into spending their money in support of the Save Ramla l-Ħamra campaign.

As the Island Reflections exhibition comes to an end tomorrow, artists cut the cost of their valuable works by up to €1,000 in solidarity with the campaign led by environmental NGO Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar.

In a battle against monetary drought caused by the credit crunch, the price of paintings by Kenneth Zammit Tabona will drop from €1,600 to €900, that of works by Debbie Caruana Dingli will go down from €3,000 to €2,000 and Richard Saliba will be cutting the cost from €750 to €500, for example.

The exhibition, that has been open for almost two months, featured a collection of over 200 pieces of art from Malta's finest artists while helping to save Ramla l-Ħamra from speculative development, FAA said. This sort of environmental campaign costs thousands of euros in consultancy fees, it added.

The exhibition is open to the public at the Casino Maltese, Valletta from 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. until tomorrow.
