Through regeneration and infrastructural projects in the centre of localities, councils were improving residents’ standard of living and the country’s tourism product, PN leader Simon Busuttil said.
Speaking during a visit to San Lawrenz and the Heart of Gozo Museum in Victoria, Dr Busuttil said this was of special significance in Gozo, which in the past years was developed as an ecological island with investment in specific niches including agriculture, cultural and eco tourism.
San Lawrence mayor Anthony Formosa lamented that workers who had been assigned with councils were being taken back by the Gozo Ministry leaving the councils without human resources. He also said that for the first time in more than 20 years, councils were seeing a drop in their direct budget.
Dr Busuttil was accompanied by PN general secretary Chris Said, Gozitan MPs Giovanna Debono and Frederick Azzopardi and the head of the Maltese delegation in the European Parliament David Casa.
