All government internet services have been fully restored, Mita said this afternoon.

The Malta Information Technology Agency yesterday reported that internet traffic to a number of government websites and eGovernment services was disrupted.

It said that investigations were still underway but ongoing tests showed that the disruption was caused by a technical fault at 8.55 a.m. in some of the main third-party fibre connections used by government.

MITA and the third-party supplier temporarily rerouted all impacted traffic onto alternative connections and standby equipment but all services were restored by this morning.

Mita said that it had scheduled system maintenance early tomorrow and eGovernment services were expected to be unavailable for about 10 minutes during this period.
