The general assembly of Catholic Action's social year 2007-2008 was held at its headquarters in Victoria. The evening consisted of a two-hour programme prepared by the diocesan pastoral secretary Fr John Curmi (ecclesiastical assistant of the movement's youth section).

A sizeable audience filled the main hall, together with a delegation from Malta including Catholic Action's president Joyce Pullicino and the ecclesiastical assistant Fr Damian Cachia.

Ms Pullicino and diocesan president Manuel Saliba delivered speeches. A powerpoint presentation was then presented, combining the year's motto (God's Word inspires renewal) with the diocese's pastoral plan, based on San Gorg Preca, prepared by a junior member.

Another member presented an animated version of her poem, helped by others from her group. In fact, most of the tasks and preparation were divided between young movement members, including the guitar group and those who danced to an introduction to the gospel reading during Mass which was concelebrated by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, Fr Cachia, Mgr Carmel Hili, Fr Curmi and 10 other priests who give their services in various parishes.

Both in his homily and in a concluding comment, Mgr Grech expressed thanks for what Catholic Action offers to the Church and encouraged members to invite others to partake of its riches.
