A 15-year-old girl was this morning given a three-month conditional discharge after she was convicted of resisting arrest and slightly injured a policewoman.

The incident happened at an end-of-term party in a bar near the Junior College last week. A court was told that the girl was asked to leave the premises but she refused and was subsequently arrested.

In a separate case, Michael Daniel Xuereb, 23 of Birkirkara was today granted bail after he was accused of violently resisting arrest, disobeying police orders and damaged a car in an incident at Paceville yesterday. He was also accused of drunk driving. Bail was granted against a personal guarantee of €2,500.

Khadir Mohamed Osman, 25, of Somalia but resident of Gzira, was condemned to a two-year prison term suspended for two years and fined €116 after he admitted injuring Mohamed Ficiid Mire with a knife last Saturday. The incident happened in Gzira.

Syrian-born Wael Mahmud Dawah, 44, of no fixed address was accused of stealing bags containing phones, cash and personal items from Valletta in three separate occasions earlier this month. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.
