A 28-year-old Ghanaian who lives in Msida was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring another man.

Police Inspector Saviour Baldacchino said Francis Opoku was arrested after the police were informed that there was an injured man being treated at Mater Dei Hospital on yesterday evening, explained.

Eyewitness Oppopong Bismark said that the fight broke out at Mr Opodu's apartment at around 8 p.m. when the accused returned home.

Mr Bismark said he was having dinner with his friend Peter Kyreme when Mr Opodu returned. Mr Opodu told Mr Kyreme: "Why did you come to my house? I hate you". He grabbed a glass off the table and hit him on the forehead, Mr Bismark said.

Questioned by defence lawyer Noel Bartolo, Mr Bismark admitted that Mr Opodu had often asked him to leave his apartment and had given him until Monday to do so.
