The Malta Business Bureau, which represents the FOI, Chamber of Commerce and MHRA, together with the Malta Standards Authority and the Food Safety Commission, with the kind support of the British High Commission, organised a half-day seminar on February 24, which discussed a number of topical issues related to food safety and regulation of foodstuffs in general.

Topics discussed labelling requirements with particular emphasis on the recent provisions regarding allergens, enforcement aspects, HACCP, materials in contact with food, the EU proposal on spirit drinks, the EU proposals on protected designations of origin and certificates of specific character and the notification of dietary foods for special medical purposes.
