Yesterday's meeting at Marsa had an interesting card that included three international races involving Maltese and French drivers.

The programme also had five other trotting races, one of them Premier, and two flat events, both won by jockey Eric Zammit.

Heat 1 of the international events was won by Frenchman Sebastien Ernault, driving Jeans De Bannes.

Heat 2 also went to the French drivers as François Lecarpentier led Landi Breton to victory in the final metres.

Heat 3, however, was a complete success for local drivers as Julian Farrugia managed to keep On Of in the lead from start to finish.

Tip Tip Tap and Maitre De Bannes, driven by Mario Bugeja and Noel Baldacchino respectively, finished second and third.

The Premier class race developed into an exciting finish, involving five trotters dashing together along the last 100m. Victory was eventually clinched by Bello Fratello (Clint Vassallo). Arnie Sensation was a close second and third place went to Socrates.

A tussle along the final straight of the Gold race, between Lindsay Neve and Race Ball, ended with the former, controlled by James Carabott, just passing the finishing line first.

However, Lindsay Neve was later disqualified and Tony Demanuele's Race Ball awarded first place.

Flying As was runner-up and Black Guy third.
