Parliamentary Secretary Franco Mercieca continued to be evasive this morning when asked whether he intended to step down to return to his profession. He indicated however that he will contest the next general election.

He said he was serving as parliamentary secretary for the elderly and would continue to serve in that role until the prime minister felt otherwise. However he refused to give a straight answer when asked if he intended to step down as part of a reshuffle, saying that was a matter between him and the prime minister.
