Delays in the implementation of eco-tax legislation were placing the companies eligible to benefit from exemptions in major difficulties, the Forum Unions Maltin said in a statement.
It said it fully supported the Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise, which yesterday called for the immediate implementation of the legislation.
The Forum said that many companies were being penalised because of government incompetence and apathy and these were incurring major expenses which were having an effect on competitiveness and could have a detrimental effect on jobs.
The Forum said it wished it could contribute on such matters within the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development but the exclusivity policy was keeping the Forum, a confederation of 11 unions, from expressing itself.
