Children's public hearing

NCW's Environment Committee are presenting a Children's Public Hearing on the Environment on November 20, World Children's Day. The hearing brings together two activities, which started off with a painting/drawing competition entitled 'Making Malta a Better Place', held in summer for children attending Skola Sajf.

The second activity is an essay competition entitled: 'Our future depends on the state of the environment. What can you do to improve it?' for schoolchildren aged between 9 and 14. The Children's Public Hearing will bring together these two activities and children will be invited to present their works and discuss their ideas on sustainable development with an adult audience. A booklet with the children's artworks and written ideas will be distributed.

The Children's Public Hearing will be held at the Aula Magna, Foundation for International Studies, Old University Building, St Paul Street, Valletta, at 6 p.m. Education Minister Louis Galea and Parliamentary Secretary George Pullicino will be present for the ceremony. NCW members are invited to attend.

Equality at the workplace

Over the past few weeks, NCW has been carrying out a survey of some 1,000 employees in several large organisations, over their awareness and understanding of equality and other gender-related policies at their workplace. The survey (the results of which will be published early next year) is being conducted with the assistance of professionals in the field. A seminar to discuss the preliminary results will be held on Friday, November 29, at 5.30 p.m. at the Aula Magna, Old University Building, St Paul Street, Valletta.
