One of the many uses that Fort St Elmo could possibly be brought to life with is to relocate the Ta' Qali crafts village into this historic venue with the many added attractions and advantages that such a historic building will bring to the tourist industry.

Tourists will no longer have to visit the few Nissen huts in the middle of open fields, an area which in itself looks like a building site, but will be visiting one of Malta's, if not Europe's, best historical fortresses, as well as a crafts village.

The opportunities for the shopkeepers and artisans that such a move would bring with it are endless. Such a venue would be an attraction in its own right. The tourist would therefore want to visit Fort St Elmo irrespective of the crafts, hence the shopkeepers will end up with an additional and captive audience to whom they can sell their wares.

One must also keep in mind the opportunities that the new cruise liner project next door will create. Again, this will attract hundreds of tourists that the Ta' Qali crafts village does not attract.

The buildings can easily be adapted to cater for the various unit sizes and for all the requirements of a crafts village.

The land the Ta' Qali crafts village occupies can also be put to a multitude of alternative uses.
