The third phase of the Fort Chambray project in Gozo is to be embarked upon shortly.

The 100,000 square metre site of the project was yesterday visited by the Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business Jason Azzopardi.

The project, he said, was to have a value of around €150 million, an investment which has already generated around 60 jobs in the different phases.

Since the project started in 2005, €100 million were spent and the development of a five to six star hotel would also generate more employment in Gozo.

The project has seen the restoration of the bastions, the barracks, the polverista (gunpowder magazines) and the bakery.

The project will have some 320 residential units and should be concluded within three years.
