Mario Camilleri, a former senior official at the Ministry of Gozo, was today condemned to a 15-month jail term suspended for two years after he was found guilty of falsifying another person's school-leaving certificate.

A court said it had proved that Mr Camilleri altered the school-leaving certificate of  Raphael Asciak so that Asciak could  qualify to work as a principal security officer at Gozo general hospital.

Camilleri was also handed a general interdiction.
