A former environmental inspector who was employed with the Mosta local council was yesterday morning charged with accepting bribes.

Joseph Borg, 62, from St Paul's Bay pleaded not guilty to accepting bribes on and before April 2003.

Magistrate Anthony Vella presided over the court. Police Inspector Carmelo Magri prosecuted.

Lawyer Arthur Azzopardi appeared for Mr Borg while lawyer Joe Mifsud appeared in parte civile for the council.
