Zlatan Ibrahimovic reacted posi-tively to reports in the media that his former club Juventus are again interested in his services.

Ibrahimovic, who left Turin in 2006 before moves to Inter, Barcelona and Milan, has been paired with a possible move to Juve at the end of the season.

“To be wanted by Juventus, if that is true, would be an honour because they are a fantastic club, for whom I have already played,” Ibrahimovic said.

“Their team is strong and they have a great project. However, I’m here in Paris and I’m thinking about winning the title with PSG.”

Sunderland not safe yet – Di Canio

Manager Paolo Di Canio says Sunderland cannot consider themselves safe from relegation despite victory over Everton moving them six points clear of the bottom three.

Stephane Sessegnon’s goal gave Sunderland their second consecutive win.

“I don’t think it is enough. Every weekend we can change the prediction for who will go down,” said Di Canio.

“Once again it was one step forward but the main job is not done.”

When Di Canio was named manager of Sunderland in March, the Black Cats were 16th and just one point above the red zone.

Juventus fined for racist abuse

Juventus have been fined €30,000 after a section of fans directed racist abuse at Milan players during Sunday night’s Serie A game.

The Lega Serie A’s disciplinary committee has taken exception to chants directed at black members of the Milan team, including striker Mario Balotelli, who was not playing due to suspension.

Kevin-Prince Boateng was one Milan player subjected to boos and catcalls from a section of Bianconeri supporters during his club’s 1-0 defeat at the Juventus Stadium.

The Ghanaian has become a figurehead for the anti-racism movement since he reacted to abuse at a friendly match at Pro Patria in January.

Redknapp regret

Harry Redknapp’s only regret this year is not trying harder to bring West Brom’s Peter Odem-wingie to QPR.

QPR are facing up to life in the Championship after the 2-0 defeat to Stoke left them 10 points adrift of safety.

The only thing the QPR boss wishes he had done differently is to have brought in Odemwingie, who saw a January move to Loftus Road collapse after his bizarre deadline day actions.

“I would not have changed an awful lot, really,” Redknapp said.

“I’d have probably tried harder to get the boy from West Brom, Odemwingie. He might have really given us something up there with Bobby Zamora not being 100 per cent fit.”

Hoeness silent on tax evasion probe

Embattled Bayern Munich boss Uli Hoeness has refused to comment on an ongoing tax evasion probe involving a Swiss bank account but plans to defend himself against what he said were “excesses in some media coverage” of the high-profile case.

Hoeness told the Munich Merkur newspaper yesterday that he would let the dust settle before discussing the issue.

“I will let a few weeks go by before I say anything,” he said.

“But I will legally defend myself against the excesses in some media coverage. It will be really expensive for them.”

Ancelotti demands more consistency

Carlo Ancelotti has been left further frustrated about PSG’s Coupe de France exit after they turned on the style to outplay Nice on Sunday.

Paris SG took another step towards their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years as they comfortably saw off the challenge of 10-man Nice at Parc des Princes with a 3-0 victory late Sunday.

“I don’t understand how we can be so bad against Evian in the cup semi-final and so good in the league.

“We have to improve our consistency levels in all aspects,” Ancelotti said.

“Of course you can’t be happy after a game such as the one at Evian. But, we’ve got a nine-point lead again, which means the title is closer. It’s easy to be motivated.”

Testimonial hints at Rio future

The clearest indication yet that Rio Ferdinand will be staying at Manchester United next season has come from a confirmation that the defender has been given a testimonial by the Old Trafford outfit.

Ferdinand joined Manchester United in 2002 from Leeds, meaning he completed a decade of service last summer.

United manager Alex Ferguson said: “I would imagine the best thing for Rio Ferdinand would be to stay with us.

“However, at this moment in time he is more concerned about getting an opponent for his testimonial game.

“But we want him to stay and I am sure his representatives will be talking about that with David (Gill).”
