Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor will continue to show "emotion" when he celebrates goals despite facing an FA charge for improper conduct.

The Togo striker has until Wednesday to appeal the charge which was levelled at him for celebrating in front of fans of former club Arsenal.

"I will still celebrate with emotion," Adebayor said.

"When you start to take emotion out of football you are going to have a very big problem. When you take out emotion you have to question if people still care about the game."

Everton demand Diouf apology

Everton have called on Blackburn striker El-Hadji Diouf to apologise and retract his claim that he was subjected to racial abuse at Goodison Park.

Diouf is being investigated for alleged racial abuse of a 14-year-old ball boy at the match. Diouf told police after the final whistle that bananas were thrown at him from the Everton crowd.

Officers immediately scoured the area next to the pitch and in the stands but no bananas were found.

Everton's director of communications Ian Ross said: "That is a wholly false allegation and I really would like him to retract that allegation and apologise."

Wenger refutes Triaud claims

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reacted angrily to claims he unsettled Marouane Chamakh and has challenged Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud to a public meeting over his allegations.

Wenger is a huge admirer of Morocco forward Chamakh but no deal was agreed this summer for the 25-year-old. Triaud has questioned Wenger's conduct by suggesting he publicly declared an interest in his player before telling Bordeaux.

Wenger said: "The communication between the president of Bordeaux and myself is very clear - I kept him informed on everything.

"I'm ready to sit down with him here and to explain to you what he said. Then I will answer eye to eye."

Rapid Vienna reverse kit decision

Rapid Vienna have reversed their decision to wear an all-red kit for Thursday's Europa League meeting with Celtic as mark of "respect".

The Austrian club had planned to resurrect the strip they wore in the infamous 1984 Cup Winners' Cup clash between the sides during the Group C game at Parkhead.

Rapid denied the move was designed to provoke their opponents and have accused former Celtic star Frank McGarvey - who played in the tie 25 years ago - of stirring up hatred between the clubs.

McGarvey is still haunted by the nature of the Hoops' defeat to the Austrians, which saw the visitors' play-acting prompt UEFA to order a replay of a tie Celtic had won.

Wearing an all-red strip, Rapid then beat Celtic 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Ferrara: Juventus should have won

Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara had a bitter taste in his mouth after his side's perfect start to the Serie A campaign was ended with a 2-2 draw at Genoa on Thursday night.

The outcome saw Juve go level on 13 points with Inter at the summit after five games, but Ferrara was not satisfied.

"We deserved the victory," he said. "I saw a great Juve and this can only give us further motivation that we are on the right path."

With Juve trailing 2-1, they had a goal harshly disallowed for offside.

"Chiellini's goal was not offside," said Ferrara.

"Games change because of these type of episodes. I can understand that it's not easy to sometimes see offsides and I think we were hard done by over this."

Ferguson keeps faith in Foster

Alex Ferguson has confirmed Ben Foster will keep his place for Manchester United at Stoke today despite a day to forget during the derby clash with Manchester City last weekend.

Tomasz Kuszczak had been tipped to step in for his first Premier League start of the season after he kept a clean sheet in the League Cup win over Wolves. However, Ferguson has been quick to give Foster a public vote of confidence.

"It was a good opportunity for Tomasz to play on Wednesday but Ben will play against Stoke," said the United boss.

"Ben has not had a lot of game experience but he will be OK."

Bordeaux's Gourcuff ordered to rest

Bordeaux playmaker Yoann Gourcuff has been ordered to rest completely for 48 hours amid fears his injury could be worse than first feared.

Gourcuff limped out of training on Thursday with a thigh problem and was rated as doubtful for tomorrow's home game against Rennes.

However, Bordeaux doctors have now told the 23-year-old not to return to training until today at least while the France international will also undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury.

It will be a big blow to Les Girondins if their fears are confirmed ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash against Maccabi Haifa.
