The European Business Test Panel (EBTP) was launched in Malta last week during a press conference organised and addressed by the Forum Malta Fl-Ewropa.

The test panel aims to provide the business community and society with a link to a European consultation process. The EBTP provides a channel between European businesses and the Commission by providing a representative group of enterprises with an opportunity to give direct input to the development of various important initiatives.

The EBTP is part of the Commission's overall policy to further improve and develop consultation links with businesses in the community. This policy intends to make Europe the best place to do business in the world.

The Malta Federation of Industry (FOI) welcomed this initiative, saying that this will definitely facilitate the accessibility of information to the business community and will serve to foster better regulation. Wilfred Kenely, director general of the FOI, said after the launch that the FOI will support this initiative and will use its communication framework to ensure that the industrial operators connect to the EBTP.

Organisations interested in obtaining more information about the EBTP should contact the FOI Secretariat on tel. 2123-4428 or 2122-2074, or e-mail: info@foi.org.mt.
