A 65-year-old man was yesterday fined almost €3,000 after he admitted to employing a foreigner without a working permit.

Joseph Degiorgio, who opted not to be assisted by a lawyer, told Magistrate Saviour Demicoli it was true he had employed the person in October and that he had not informed the Employment and Training Corporation about his employment. He was fined €2,850.

Police Inspector Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.
