Festival Mediterranea, organised by the Astra Theatre, opens with the opera La Traviata on Thursday and Saturday.

Other events include chamber and symphonic music, visits to places of interest, theatre and dance performances.

Events focusing on prehistoric culture will be spread over five days. They will be led by UK archaeologist and scholar David Trump.

The first event, ‘The Archaeologist Speaks’, will take place at Heritage Malta Gozo Office at the Citadel on November 1 at 11 a.m. Guided visits to the Hypogeum will take place on November 2 (two visits) and another two visits on November 4, starting at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on both days.

An on-site lecture by Dr Trump will be held at Ġgantija Temples in Xagħra on November 5. A half-day seminar, entitled ‘The Mystery of the Cart-ruts and the many questions they pose’ will be held at the conference hall of the Gozo Ministry on November 6 at 9 a.m.
