This evening’s Festival Mediterranea concert at the Aula Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia at St George's Basilica in Victoria has been cancelled.

The concent, by Opera Studio Teatru Astra (OSTA), had to cancelled due to last-minute unforeseen circumstances.

Events held during the rest of the weekend, including the sold-out dance spectacle, will be held as planned.

Those taking part in tomorrow’s organised visit to the vineyards of a family-run boutique winery in Gharb should meet the organisers at Gharb Square at 1.45 p.m. from where they will proceed to the Hili family fields, where a hands-on experience at cultivating vines will also be offered.

The event includes the sampling of wines and a selection of home-made delicacies. Ticket enquiries on 2155 0985 or 9988 3007.

Another event this weekend is tomorrow evening’s dance spectacle by Centre Stage Dance Academy at Teatru Astra with the participation of more than 200 dancers.

Truly Unforgettable is a celebration of timeless popular songs in an array of dance numbers featuring jazz, ballet, hip hop, and the contemporary genre through songs by artistes including Domenico Modugno, Tina Turner and Joe Cocker, as well as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kylie Minogue and Cheryl Cole.

The production is under the artistic direction and choreography of young dance teacher Natalie Sciortino.

Festival Mediterranea continues next weekend and the following with the annual grand band concert by La Stella Philharmonic Band on November 20 and a folk spectacular, part of an international folk festival, organised by Astra Folk Group, on November 27. Both events will be held at Teatru Astra and entrance is free of charge.
