Ever wondered what Tonio Fenech will do if given the option to go back in time?

He will not become a minister... and this by his own admission.

Enthralled by what he had just seen this afternoon while visiting a computer education company, the Finance Minister told students he wished he was 20 years young.

"I would not have become a minister... I would have gone into the digital industry," he said, adding with a smile that digital gaming was an exciting industry.

Mr Fenech was given a presentation of digital games and concepts created by students at the Institute of Computer Education in Zebbug as part of a competition to benefit from two study grants awarded by Malta Enterprise.

The Minister spoke of Government incentives for the digital gaming industry, intended to diversify the sector from a supportive role to foreign operations to a value-added industry where games were created and developed in Malta.

Mr Fenech said a new scheme will give a one-time tax credit of €15,000 to companies that commission online digital games in Malta. "In this way there will more work for digital game creators like yourself," he said.
