Karl Fenech, Island Radio Model Car Club (IRMCC) official, is the winner of the 2003 Easter Cup competition, mainly sponsored by Kellogg's.

The Easter Cup, held at the club's track in Pembroke, involved three races, each held on a different circuit.

Drivers, irrespective of grade, raced in the Open Class, according to International Touring Car regulations. In all, 13 took part in the first race on the shorter circuit.

Joe Anastasi made a good start with his Yokomo MR4 Special. But then a slight mistake allowed Julian Bernard and Alan Curmi, both driving Associated TC3s, to swerve past the club president, as Karl Fenech's TC3 model caught up as well.

The next 10 laps produced some close racing but, having overgeared their cars, Bernard and Curmi slowed down in the last lap. This enabled Anastasi to take the lead again, but another mistake in the final corner saw Curmi sneaking through and take the win. Anastasi had to settle for second, with Fenech third and Bernard fourth.

The second race was on a long circuit. Tommy Cremona, another contestant controlling a Yokomo MR4 Special, joined in. The leaders, once again, swapped positions furiously. At the end it was Anastasi who took the win, followed by Fenech, then Bernard with just three seconds separating them at the finishing line.

The final race was run on an oval. Starting from pole position, Anastasi took an immediate lead but was soon overtaken by both Bernard and Fenech. Bernard was leading at the half-way stage but a slight mistake allowed Fenech to squeeze through into a lead he was not to lose.

With the racing over it was time to work out the scores. This resulted in a draw for Fenech and Anastasi with five points each. But, the decisive score, based on the driver to complete most laps, accredited Fenech as the winner of the Easter Cup.

Joe Filletti won the award for best-placed competitor using a stock motor, and Jean Vella clinched the award for best beginner.
