No one was injured but the facade of a house in Gzira was extensively damaged in a crash in Carlo Manche Street at around 5 p.m.

Eyewitnesses said the driver of a white Toyota Starlet lost control as he was going downhill.

A 26-year-old who was home at the time thought someone had broken into the house and called her mother and her fiance for assistance.

Rita Mercieca, the owner of the house, expressed anger at the Gzira council saying she had asked for a small rail guard to be installed a year ago but her appeal fell on deaf ears.

This guard, which prevented cars from parking on the pavement, blocking entrance to houses was available for other residences in the area.
