Maltese candidates for the B.Sc. (Hons) in Financial Services (UMIST) have obtained very positive results in the April examinations.

Moreover, 11 students have successfully completed their qualification. Candidates are also awarded the Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) upon completion of the degree.

The B.Sc., offered in partnership with the world-renowned University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), is one of the most highly respected qualifications in the financial services sector.

IFS-Malta offers tuition in conjunction with the University of Malta. An Academic Centre Board set up jointly between IFS-Malta and the University, chaired by Professor Daniel Darmanin, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, oversees the quality assurance aspect of the tuition element. Examinations are set by IFS-UK and UMIST.

Charles Borg, president of the Institute of Financial Services, Malta, expressed his congratulations to the students for their achievement. Mr Borg added that the attainment of the degree was no mean feat when one considers that all the work is done on part-time basis, having to juggle the conflicting demands of work, family and coursework.

The students who completed their studies are Stephanie Attard (Bank of Valletta); Pierre Bonnici (HSBC); Dennis Camilleri (Fimbank Ltd); Julian Curmi (BoV); Jacqueline Farrugia (St Michael's School); Aaron Mifsud (APS Bank Ltd); Kevin Mifsud (HSBC); Joan Said (HSBC); Joanne Scerri (Azzopardi Financial Services); Michael Joseph Schembri (BoV) and Samantha Sciberras (BoV).
